Vendor Managed Inventory Implemented
Did you know that 10% of all products are out of stock at the place and time a purchase is made, yet 20% of all inventories are in excess of requirements? If this is true for you, then no matter how small or large your company is, it may be time to implement a VMI program.
When taking the concept of a vendor management program from the page to the stock room it can be as simple as the supplier sending a representative to a manufacturer to count stock and replenish it. The more efficient approach of course, is to transmit that data electronically. This can be through either a shared software program or even an independent workstation that communicates directly with the supplier.
Information shared can vary from "release/ship this quantity" to "maintain on hand inventory." A manufacturer can share information with a supplier such as product usage, stock levels and forecasts and the supplier provides stock according to a predetermined agreement with the manufacturer.
Furthermore, the program can be implemented for anything. From components to clean room and packaging supplies, the result of an effective VMI program results in more improved service for the customer.
If having zero inventory on the books is a high priority for an organization, a VMI program using this approach dramatically reduces the number of suppliers, and in some cases, single-sources a product or groups of products.
Everything from solder wire to heat shrink can be implemented on a VMI program—and Bantam provides them in the brand names you trust like Kester,3M, GC Waldom and Techspray. Happy Spring
It's no surprise throughout Central Texas in May when a Severe Weather alert is issued. Those who have spent at least one spring in the area know to avoid low water crossings in case of flooding. We're aware we should find our way to the center of a building in a room with no windows, should the presence of a tornado be imminent. Lightning can have it's hazards too, and a good rule of thumb is the 30 second rule. If the time between lightning and thunder is less than thirty seconds, then the lightning is close enough to reach you.
| Of course, we also know if you're busy installing a Winegard antenna in this weather, it's just better to wait for clear skies.
Spring is the perfect time to brush up on your weather safety tips and replenish or replace the supplies necessary should turbulent weather affect you. Bantam Distribution can supply you and your company with much of the safety stock you need for spring. To avoid the blue screen of death, make sure stop by Bantam for a UPS or two from TrippLite or APC. Avoid the big box store markups and fill your flashlights with Energizer batteries. If you need more flashlights, Bantam stocks those, too. And should your Winegard antenna break apart when lightening strikes, pick up a roll of duct tape from 3M.
Happy Spring!
